Faculty Development Programme on Raspberry Pi3 was conducted for the faculties of EEE department headed by resource persons Mr. Vishwanath T, CEO, V V Technologies, Tumkur, Mr. Kumarswamy, Manager, V V Technologies, Tumkur, Mr. Chetan K Jadhav, Senior Engineer, V V Technologies, Tumkur. The FDP was focused on giving extensive information regarding the Raspberry Pi3 kit, the linking softwares and interfacing techniques. It was held on 18th – 22nd July 2016 for 5 days.

An INDUSTRIAL VISIT was scheduled on 24-5-2016 for a 440kV / 220kV NELAMANGALA POWER STATION guided by the faculties Mr. Vinay, Junior Engineer & Rafi Ahmed Z, Asst. Professor . The visit enlightened the students about the various power system equipments and their maintenance. It als emphasised on various techniques involved for safe operation and maintenance of the power system.

Gnana Vikasa Samavesham is the final year project exhibition conducted by the department of EEE in association with its students’ forum SPARK AURA. It is a platform for the students to showcase the innovative talents of the students in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. It was the congregation of the students of the 10th outgoing batch of Electrical and Electronics Engineering aimed to exhibit the final semester academic projects. Some of the prototypes developed by the students were very innovative and bears social relevance to benefit the society at large. The prototypes exhibited were the winning combination of latest developments in the field of EEE and future needs of the society. The event showcased various technologies in the field of Energy, Power electronics, Embedded systems, Communication, Medical electronics, Control systems, IOTs (Internet of things) etc. This vibrant exhibition proved not only the mettle of the students but also the calibre of the guiding staffs, the brain behind them. Few project prototypes are on the verge of applying for patents and to promote them as commercial products

A technical talk was delivered on “----” by Mr H V Rajashekara, Director – DESIGN institute, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association held on 19-3-2016.
The department of EEE organized a Guest Lecture on “The Opportunities in Manufacturing Industry for Fresh Engineers ” by H V Rajashekara & Team, Director Design Institute – Indian Machine Tools Manufacturers’ Association.
Mr Rajashekara had an impressive conversation with the students & staff, he is the man of CNC machines having spent 30 years in the gamut of the various diverse areas of CNC applications.
Firstly he spoke at length the challenges faced by the industry due to the lesser workability and competency of the fresh engineers.
According to him the biggest challenge the education System faces today is employability after engineering courses. Even though India has become a choice destination for all global players for their various manufacturing activities, fresh mechanical and electrical engineers from colleges lack the practical skills and confidence to meet the prevailing manufacturing Environment. Presently CNC technologies are being used across all manufacturing industries and as such modern industries demand adequate knowledge as well as skill in Computer Integrated Manufacturing practices.
The team took up the crux of the story and stressed upon the various well established and emerging industries available for the fresh engineers to offer job opportunities. They also pointed out the ways and avenues by which fresh engineers can sharpen their skill sets to make them easily acceptable by the recruiting companies. Thus all in all, Mr Rajashekara & team had a very informative tryst with the students. We look forward to have a much fruitful association with them in future!

The department of EEE organized a Guest Lecture on the “PROTECTION OF TRANSFORMERS & AC MACHINES” by Mr E K JOHNSON, Ex HOD – ELECTRICAL & INSTRUMENTS SEGMENT, HEIDELBERG CEMENT PLANT held on 27-02-2016
The Transformer being an important component of the power system is a static machine delivering the top efficiency of more than 90% under full load conditions. The speaker explained in detail the operation of the transformers, the various possible faults affecting them and their wide importance from the perspective of the industry. The speaker also spoke at length about the alternators and the ac motors. He emphasised on the use and working of the diesel generators used in industries. He equally stressed upon the importance of induction motors in the arena of the industry. The induction motor according to the speaker is the champion among all motors due to its many advantages such as low cost, higher power factor, rugged construction etc.

National workshop on “Importance of Electrical Energy Conservation in the Present day Energy Crisis” 29th -31st Oct 2014. It was conducted for all engineering college faculties & PG students.
