Electronics & Communication


Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) was established during the inception of the institute in 2001.The department runs undergraduate program with an intake of 180 seats and two post graduate programs with an intake of 24 seats each. The programs are approved by AICTE and affiliated to VTU, Belgaum. The department is focused towards growth and technology trends with well-furnished laboratories. The Department has highly efficient and qualified faculty with industrial experience. Two International Conferences, Three National Conferences, Seminars, Workshops and many guest lectures were also conducted by the Department in the recent academic years. Faculty development programs are conducted on a regular basis. An excellent academic and research environment is available for creative and productive work both for faculty as well as students. The Department has an association called "ELECTRONICA" that conducts co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

Vision
Don Bosco Bangalore department of Electronics and Communication Engineering strives to be the proactive development center in electronics and communications by empowering the learning communities through collaborative efforts of its stakeholders.
Mission
Don Bosco Bangalore department of Electronics and Communication Engineering would like to impart the quality education and skill development among the students in the area of analog electronics, digital electronics, consumer electronics, embedded systems and power electronics.

Program Educational Objectives (PEO's)


  1. To focus the graduating students with in-depth fundamentals of Electronics and Communication related courses to evolve them as proficient and skillful in the area of Engineering and Technology.

  2. To enrich high quality technical education for graduating students to deal with real time challenges and its outcome with global aspects.

  3. To nurture technocrats and entrepreneurs with skills of effective communication, team work and multi-disciplinary approach to improve the quality by inculcate the human values.

Program Outcomes (POs)


1. Engineering Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

2.Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and Engineering sciences.

3.Design/Development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate

consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

4.Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

5.Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

6.The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

7.Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

8.Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.

9.Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.

Electronics & Communication engineering students are qualified for employment in a extensive areas. This ranges from Circuit Designer, Circuit testing Engineer, Network Engineer, Communication Engineer, Signal Analyst, signal testing, MEMS Designer, Automation Engineer, Automotive Engineer, Robotics Engineer, Chip Designer, software and Hardware Engineer. Electronics & Communication Engineering are also absorbed into the entertainment transmission industry, research establishments, and defence. They can also take up teaching and research in various field in India or abroad.


Departmental Resources


The department is well equipped with Lab Facilities such as Cadence and Tanner Tools for VLSI Lab, Xilinx for HDL Lab, Matlab & Code Composer Studio for DSP & Microcontroller Lab with an overall of 100 Computers. Communication lab is equipped with Microwave test bench & Micro strip antenna. Each Lab is very spacious with sufficient lab equipments and Display items such as Charts & Major equipments list. The Department Library is well furnished with prescribed text books and reference books with volume around 550 books. It also provides E-resources facilities such as EDUSAT and NPTEL Programme, j-gate link, Springer link, IEEE explore, KNimbus, EBSCO, CRCnetbase link access with OPAC library facility. The department Library also consists of National & International Conference Proceedings, Project Reports of UG & PG Course, VTU Question Papers and IGNOU notes of UG Course. The Department has an excellent infrastructure that includes ten classrooms and Seminar hall equipped with Projectors. The department has well maintained rest rooms for girls and boys, facility signboards and purified drinking water facility.
