Research and development (R & D) is a component of Innovation and is situated at the front end of the Innovation life cycle. The objective of R & D is to promote research activities
among students and faculty as well as to provide platform for sharing and implementing innovative and creative ideas to facilitate exchange of information to upgrade the knowledge in mechanical engineering
Our R & D is equipped with Universal Testing Machine (UTM), Torsion Testing Machine, Fatigue Machine, Hardness Testing Machines (Rockwell, Brinell and Vickers), Impact testing machine (Izod and
charpy), Pin on Disc Wear Testing Machine, Surface Coating Setup (Electro Plating),Metallurgical Microscope, Lathe Tool Dynamometer Drill Tool Dynamometer and Tally Surf ( Surface Roughness Measuring
instrument) etc. Using the above equipments we can determine various properties such as Tensile Strength, Compressive strength, Flexure/Bending Strength, Shear Strength, Ductility, Impact strength, fatigue
strength, hardness, surface coating, surface roughness ,cutting force and microstructure of different materials.
By using these facilities, we will be able to identify the microstructures, test
the mechanical properties of the different engineering materials, surface coating, surface roughness measurement, tool condition monitoring and able to select the materials for the appropriate design/
applications.
