The Mechanical Engineering Design Laboratory contributes to educate the undergraduate/Postgraduate students as well as in the research areas in the field of Mechanical Design. The mission of Mechanical Engineering Design Lab is innovative mechanical component design, improve design quality, shorten design time, and enhance design education. The foundation of this lab is the science of design, which provides scientific means for studying design activities.

The design laboratory is equipped with vibration testing setup, balancing of rotating masses setup, critical speed of rotating shaft equipment, Journal bearing setup, Universal Governor setup, Gyroscope, Polariscope, Strain Rosettes etc.In this laboratory the students will learn the basics of vibrations and their measurements, understand the working of governors and gyroscope. Also they will determine the stress concentration in various photo elastic models, calculate the pressure distribution in journal bearing.

After completing this lab the student will have practical knowledge of the design parameters and ability to analyze various design equipments.
