Computer Science


The department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) was established in the academic year 2001 with an intake of 60 and further enhanced to 180 seats in BE. The Department offers two M.Tech Programs (CSE and CNE) 24 seats each. The Department has been recognized as a Centre for Research by VTU, for Ph.D. program in Computer Science and Engineering / M.Sc. (Engg). The department has well equipped laboratories with updated software and hardware with an emphasis on practical learning in addition to curriculum. The Department has a students’ forum called “Tantrakala” which actively conducts various co-curricular and extracurricular activities. The department has well qualified and experienced faculty having extensive expertise and experience in their chosen fields with an average experience of 10 years. Faculty is actively involved in research in core areas of Computer Networks, Cloud Computing, Image Processing, Machine Learning, Data Mining. Faculty members have published papers in reputed conferences and journals. The department conducts workshops, seminars and guest lectures and conferences to keep the students and staff updated with the current developments. The department also invites projects from industries to be implemented by the students.

Don Bosco Bangalore, Department of Computer Science and Engineering looks forward to be a quality centre of computation by imparting knowledge on various algorithms and data structures, programing methodology and languages with an orientation of computer architecture as per the standards of the industry with a cohesive efforts of its students and staffs.
Mission
Don Bosco Bangalore, Department of Computer Science and Engineering would like to nurture the development of skill sets among the students in the area of software engineering, computer networking, database, computer graphics, operating systems, artificial intelligence, numerical and symbolic computation with the collaborative efforts of participants and industry.

To prepare students for graduate and postgraduate programmes and to succeed in a professional career in Computer Science and Engineering related fields

Computer Science & Engineering is a branch that deals with the field associated with programming skills, logic, decision making with creativity and innovation with applications and solutions to most of the problems benefiting the society at large in day to day life. IT professionals have high demand both in India and abroad with a plethora of opportunities available all around. These engineers can work in real time application platforms at the industry level or at the system level contributing to the development of new systems including hardware and software. They have ample opportunities in government sectors, public sector undertakings, private sectors, service sectors like banking applications, hospitals, education and training. Companies like IBM, Microsoft, Google, Apple, Oracle, Infosys, Wipro, HCL, L&T InfoTech, TCS, CTS, TechMahindra, Accenture, Capgemini, Toyota offer placements to eligible students.


Departmental Resources


The department has well equipped ventilated class rooms with latest teaching aids, supported by eight laboratories with updated hardware and software. The departmental library is available for faculty and students providing access to reference books, text books, journals, e-resources like IEEE/IEL Online, Springer Link, Taylor and Francis e-books, video Lectures of NPTEL and EDUSAT. The departmental laboratories have more than 180 Computers (Lenovo, HP) supported by a dedicated standby UPS of rating 50kVA. Each lab is on LAN with student terminal ratio of 1:1. All labs have internet facility with 20 Mbps dedicated line with separate Wi-Fi access point for lab and department. Licensed Windows Operating Systems and software like Oracle, Visual Studio 2012. All faculties are provided with individual chambers with a pool of secretarial assistants to assist the academic and department administration. The department has well maintained rest rooms for girls and boys, facility signboards and purified RO drinking water facility.
