Dr. R Prakash graduated from Basaveshwar Engineering College ( BEC ), Bagalkot, Karanataka University, Dharwad in the year 1983. He completed his post graduation (M.E) in Power Systems Engineering at Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli, Maharashtra under Shivaji University in the year 1990. He was awarded Ph.D in Power Systems Engineering from Visveswaraya Technological University for the topic “Reactive Power Management in Distribution Systems” under the guidance of Dr. T. Anantha Padmanabha, Professor, National Institute of Engineering, Mysuru.

Dr. R Prakash is an expert in power system planning and operation having extensive knowledge. He is also specialized in power transmission planning studies, Renewable Integration etc. He has published around 20 research papers in National and international journals & conferences. He has guided over 140 projects of Master degree and Bachelor degree students and at present 8 students are working under him for their Ph.D.

He has delivered lectures in many institutions in the areas of Renewable energy integration, Forecasting, Power system simulation and studies, Power System Planning, Energy Management System, Power system operation, Reactive power Management in Distribution system etc.

Dr. R Prakash is also advising many educational institutions in academic parlance and was Chairman and Member of Board of Examinations and Board of studies. He is a regular member of Local Inspection Committee of VTU. He is also in the Ph.D evaluation committee of VTU, and other universities.
