Circuit Simulation & Electrical Measurements Lab

This lab comprises of phase shifting transformers, reactive load and various other equipments used for calibration and measurement of electrical quantities. This laboratory is equipped with all electrical bridge circuits like Kelvin's Double Bridge,Maxwell’s bridge, Schering Bridge to facilitate the measurement of unknown values of elements like resistor, capacitor and inductor. Errors in electrical measuring instruments can also be found. We can also find real and reactive power of unbalanced loads. Also through this lab students will be enlightened to learn PSPICE software package for building and simulating the circuits. The same can be used in industries for PCB designing.

Course Objectives

Measurement of low resistance using Kelvin’s double bridge
Measurement of cable insulation and earth resistance using Meggar
Measurement of inductance using Maxwell Inductance-Capacitance bridge & determination of Q factor
Measurement of capacitance using De-Sauty’s bridge & determination of dissipation factor.
Measurement of active and reactive power in balanced 3-phase circuit using two-watt meter method.
Adjustment & calibration of 1-phase energy meter
Determination of ratio & phase angle error in CT.
Inverting, non-inverting & scale changing of signals using op -amps
